Major Investment for Stoneham Tourist Resort
Stoneham, Juin 1, 2017 – The Stoneham Tourist Resort is proud to announce a major investment for the 2017-2018 season, the arrival of a new ski lift for the mountain. The new quad fixed chairlift will replace the double chair La Bordée and the crossbow (T-bar) The Chinook, equipment dating respectively 50 and 32 years. This new feature will increase the speed of recovery in this area, modernize the facilities of the resort and serve even better the ski area, to the delight of skiers and snowboarders.
The new Doppelmayr fixed chairlift 4-CLF will have approximately 14 laps and 138 chairs, as well as a boarding mat. It will offer a rise of 8 ½ minutes, for a capacity of 1,900 people per hour. For comparison, the lift of the double chair is 11 minutes.
The dismantling of the equipment is supervised by the Stoneham Tourist Station team. Doppelmayr, an Austrian company with offices and a factory in Saint-Jérôme, will proceed with the installation of the new lift, parts of which come from Europe, the United States and Quebec (Saint-Jérôme). The project began on May 29, allowing the lift to be ready for the opening of the next season in November. Following the installation of the Panorama-Express detachable quadruple lift at Mont-Sainte-Anne in 2013, this is a second new ski lift erected by the Stoneham and Mont-Sainte-Anne teams in recent years. This major project is a major investment of several million dollars for the station, which will also contribute to the economic growth of the municipality and the region. More than ever, Stoneham will be a must for a day of skiing in the nation’s capital.
