The FIS World Cup freestyle ski moves to Tremblant

In January 2018, it will be at Tremblant that fans will be able to see the best freestyle skiers in the world. Freestyle Canada has signed an agreement with Station Mont Tremblant, which will host the FIS Freestyle World Cup for the next five years; a change that will allow the organization to position itself advantageously on the chessboard of sporting events in Canada.

« We are convinced that this change will give new energy to freestyle skiing in Quebec and encourage new opportunities for Freestyle Canada.” While Tremblant hosts the World Cup, Val Saint-Côme remains a valuable partner for Freestyle Canada through the Center. Acrobatic Excellence National Team and Development skiers will continue to use current venues for training as well as for world-class competitions, including the Nor-Am FIS events.

For their part, Mont Tremblant ski resort leaders are delighted with the arrival of the stars of freestyle skiing and are convinced that all conditions are met to ensure the success of the event. “The quality of our infrastructure and the expertise of our teams, both in the mountains and in the pedestrian village, will benefit not only the athletes, but also their families and the organizing committee,” explains Patrice Malo, President and Chief Executive Officer. from Mont Tremblant Resort. “These assets will help to make the event shine at the international level while nourishing the dream of local succession that can develop there, which is entirely related to our mission and our values. »

The FIS Tremblant World Cup will be held on January 20, 2018 and will be the last one before the announcement of the athletes’ participation in the Canadian delegation to the Olympic Games in Pyeongchang, South Korea.

The event will take place on the south side of the Flying Mile track. This track, in addition to being advantageously located for the public, presents the inequalities required for an event of this size. Remember that Tremblant hosted the World Cup of Moguls and Moguls from 1996 to 2005 inclusively.
